Club Penguin Developer Update: August 16

Tuesday, August 16th, 2011

Billybob recently made a blog post on the What’s New Blog and decided to give us another Developer Update! Here are a few things that will be coming up within the next few months.

New System Defender level – We’re just about finished a brand new level for the EPF-only game System Defender. The new level will be released at the end of this week. Remember that you’ll need to be a secret agent to play the game!

The Great Snow Race – Next week we’ll be releasing the first ever “Great Snow Race”, a party for extreme sports fans! We’ll let you know more about this one next week. But for now, here’s a little sneak peek:

Bugs squashed – There are a few silly bugs out there that we’re in the process of squashing. Don’t worry — we’ve heard you and we’re working on them every week. Thanks for letting us know about them. Remember to let us know what web browser you’re using and the server you were on if you’re letting us know about a bug.

Beta Team testing — We’re just about finished setting up something special for Beta Team testers. Testers: get ready to help beta test something a little different than a game…

Club Penguin Lighthouse Beacon Minor Updates

Friday, August 5th, 2011

Many smart penguins have been noticing slight changes that have been made to the Lighthouse Beacon! These updates are very minor. You’ll have to take a close look at these pictures, which will show you what the room looked like before and after the minor changes. First, here is what the Lighthouse Beacon looked like before:

Here is what the Lighthouse Beacon looks like now:

As you can see, the only changes were the style of it. I actually really like this minor update, it makes the room look much better! I hope that Club Penguin will eventually do this for other rooms as well.

Club Penguin Membership Prices Info

Monday, July 4th, 2011

After all of the recent rumors about Club Penguin to increase the prices of Memberships, they have spoken out on the What’s New blog about it. The changes in pricing only affect those who live in United States and Canada. For those people, Club Penguin membership will be $7.95 a month, $39.95 for 6 months and $59.95 for 12 months. This will start on July 13th.

However, if you have a recurring membership, you will not be paying the new price. You will still be paying the $5.95 as long as you stay a member. You’ll also be able to use membership cards with the old price if you already have them.

Club Penguin Membership Prices Info

A lot of this information is disappointing to many penguins. But, Club Penguin does want us to realize that this increase is to help improve the game. Here is what Billybob, a representative of Club Penguin, told us about the increase:

Ever since we launched Club Penguin, we’ve released tons of new games, features and special events, and donated millions of dollars to charitable projects to help kids around the globe. The new price will allow us to create even more great content that will make Club Penguin even better.

I think that this has its advantages and disadvantages. Do you think that more penguins will stop purchasing memberships now? I’m happy that recurring members are allowed to keep paying the old price, but what about penguins who buy Membership cards? I think that this is kind of unfair.

Club Penguin Account Creation Update

Monday, June 27th, 2011

Along with Club Penguin’s recent update on the Map, they have also redesigned the whole account creation process. It is now more simple than ever to create an account at Club Penguin. Instead of taking many steps to create your account, there is now only one page that requires you to fill in information. Here is what it looks like:

Once you enter in all of your penguin information, it will notify your parent to check their email inbox.

Then, once you confirm the email, you will be able to play Club Penguin on your new account as usual! The only difference is the design of the registration process. I think that it looks much better! What are your thoughts about it?

From the new Map, you are easily able to locate your favorite mini-games, shops, and other places from the menu.

A lot of penguins have mixed feelings about this new update, but I honestly think that it’s much more organized. I think this gives you quicker access to what you’re looking for on the Club Penguin island! I also really like the design of it, it looks so much nicer. I am glad to see that Club Penguin is making these updates! What are your thoughts about it? Do you prefer the older map?

Club Penguin Welcomes New Friends With Items

Sunday, June 26th, 2011

Many penguins have been requesting this for a while. Today, Billybob has announced on the What’s New blog that all new penguins will start out with 2 items! These items include a red hat and a cloud background. Here’s what they both look like on a new penguin:

I think that this is a good idea. Instead of having penguins start out with nothing, I like the idea of giving them default items for free to wear.
